Nidiya Kusmaya (b. 1992) is an artist known for her special interest in colorful materials and their beautiful appearance in natural fibers. She explores how colors, nature, and human life are connected. Inspired by the detailed beauty of colors and their changes over time, she creates amazing artworks that go beyond traditional limits and touch on the core of our existence.
In 2023, Nidiya studied water and soil pollution from mining areas in Samarinda, East Kalimantan. She turned the polluted soil and water into pigments for her artwork. Nidiya's paintings on display here highlight the impact we have on the environment and show the beauty and fragility of our relationship with nature. Her pigments tell a story of a changing world, encouraging us to find ways to live peacefully with nature.
